Assistant Buyer

Our client is a privately-held, Canadian manufacturer of high-quality tools that have been distributed throughout North America for over 95 years, who is now seeking an Assistant Buyer to join their Brampton team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This role provides the perfect opportunity for someone with 2 years of purchasing and inventory experience to take the next step into a position that can grow along with you! In the capacity of Assistant Buyer, you will support the Purchasing Manager by handling the day-to-day functions, including:
-Enter purchase orders, follow up and expedite when required
-Update and maintain vendor records, pricing, and item information; maintain vendor performance records, including gathering data and creating graphs and reports
-Follow-up with Planner on material shortages through expediting and raw material planning
-Maintain purchase order records and files; generate purchase orders based on best buy concepts – maximizing cost savings (freight and standard cost) while minimizing inventory levels
-Determine inventory needs and purchase items accordingly (with input of Purchasing Manager) to ensure availability when materials are needed
-Work with Purchasing Manager to review and adjust inventory levels and parameters when required
-Develop and work with order schedules and/or blanket orders

Qualifications:
-2 – 4 years’ experience in both manufacturing and distribution environments, with exposure to purchasing and inventory
-College Diploma in Business or related field
-High level of proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word etc.). Experience with MS
-Access would be an asset
-Experience reading and creating reports
-Strong communication skills; able to build strong relationships with vendors and team members alike.
-Current enrollment in (or interest in pursuing) CPP/SCMP designation would be an asset
